Answer lies with whom you are traveling with.. alone, couple, family with kids, friends, and then age factor.. So I would say we need to choose a stay on holiday as per our travel companion basically..then all factors like location near beach or near eateries, charges, amenities etc. come later. What I had experienced, I would like to share that one should choose his stay not too far from the beach as Goa is primarily a beach destination and you will get plenty of happenings in and around the beach. Probably you will end up paying more to stay near the beach but you will then save on transportation cost (to/from beach). By near the beach I mean up to 10 minutes walking distance from the beach.. Then you should consider good eateries / hangout places in and around your stay and of course, a secured parking space to park your owned or rented vehicle. There are plenty of Non AC options available, but for person like me room with a good AC is top priority:))
